Lee Iacocca conceived of the idea for the minivan in 1974 as president of Ford Motor Company. Still haunted by the Edsel fiasco, Henry Ford II resisted the minivan concept. Lee took his ideas for the minivan to Chrysler which was wildly successful in the 1980ís.
