Menus and Icon Bar

Menus
Truereq has four main menus: File, Edit, Add, and Help. Each menu and its commands is described in detail in this section. All commands operate on the item currently selected in the Tree. Note that all commands from the Add menu can be achieved by clicking on the icons in the icon bar.

File Menu

  • Switch Workspace/Use - Closes the Truereq application and brings up the Truereq Login window, prompting you for a Workspace, username, and password.
  • Export - Allows you to save your information from the Tree into a CSV file.
  • Import - Allows you to import you requirements into the Tree from a CSV file, with one requirement for each line in your Excel spreadsheet.
  • Exit - Closes the Truereq application.

Edit Menu

  • Undo - Undoes your last action. For example, if you just deleted a folder but wish to recover it, use the undo command. Note that you can only use the undo command for your last action.
  • Redo - Redoes your last action. If you have just used the undo command, you can redo it with the redo command.
  • Delete - Deletes a selected item from the tree.
You can also use the Delete icon from the icon bar.
  • Cut - Cuts selected text from any text window.
  • Copy - Copies selected text from any text window.
  • Paste - Pastes selected text which has been either cut or copied onto a text window.
  • Groups - Brings up a dropdown menu, allowing you to select which group you wish to edit. Administrator only
  • Users - Brings up a dropdown menu, allowing you to select which user you wish to edit. You can edit or add general and personal information, as well as change a password. Administrator only
  • Edit Phase List - Allows you to set up phase lists for products, requirements and issues. Administrator only
  • Ranking Criteria - Allows you to set up a list of criteria from which users can assign rankings to items in the Tree.

Add Menu

  • User - Brings up the Add User window, allowing you to enter general and personal information about a new user, including a username, Password, group, and license type. Administrator only

  • Group - Brings up the Add Group window, allowing you to enter information about a new group. Administrator only

  • Folder - Adds a folder to the Tree. In the right pane you can enter information about the folder. Folders can be used for general organizing and grouping.

  • Product - Adds a product to the Tree. Enter information about the product in the pane on the right. Products are the primary unit of the Tree.

  • Requirement - Adds a requirement to the Tree. Enter information about the requirement in the pane on the right. Requirements are all the parts which make up a product.

  • Survey - Adds a survey to the Tree. Enter information about the survey in the pane on the right. Surveys allow people to give input via an HTML form on a question asked.

  • Issue - Adds an issue to the Tree. Enter information about the issue in the pane on the right. Issues can be added to bring up potential problems about a product or requirement.

  • Ranking - Adds a ranking node to the Tree. Note that you must set up your ranking criteria (from the Edit menu) before adding a ranking. Rankings allow you to set up a list of products, requirements, or issues, and compare how different users rank them in order of importance.

  • Attachment - Adds an attachment to the Tree. A dialog box will prompt you to navigate to the file in your local file system. Any type of file can be added as an attachment.

Help Menu

  • Getting Started - Launches the Getting Started Guide, a general guide for using the Truereq product
  • Online Help - Launches the Truereq knowledge base, at http://www.truereq.com/support_knowledgebase.htm
  • About - Brings up a window with the Truereq Client version information and the License Agreement.

Icon Bar
The icon bar contains icons for frequently-accessed commands. All commands from the Add menu can be invoked using the icon bar. Please see the Add Menu section, above, for a description of these commands. It is important to note that there is one icon in the icon bar for which there is no alternative in Truereq's menus. This is the Show Dashboard icon.

  • Show Dashboard
Brings up the Executive Dashboard, which provides an overview of your Workspace, indicating how many requirements and issues are in each phase of a product.
