Truereq Getting Started Guide

Welcome to Truereq's "Getting Started" guide. This short guide is designed to get you up and running with Truereq. For a more detailed guide, please visit the Truereq User Guide.

Where to start:
Getting started with Truereq is simple. You'll need to download the Truereq client software, then register for your free single user license. When you install and launch the Truereq application, you'll be able to log on immediately and start using Truereq today!

1. Register for your free single user license.
2. Download Truereq Installer (~15M)
3. Install Truereq - just double-click on the Installer and follow the onscreen instructions.

Logging in to Truereq:
When you launch the Truereq Client, you will be asked to enter your Workspace, username, and password. This is the information you entered when you registered for Truereq. You will also have this information in a confirmation email. Once you have entered this information, click OK and you are ready to start using Truereq!

Creating your first product:
When you log in, you will see an empty Workspace with one folder in your Truereq Requirements Tree. This folder has the name of your Workspace, and every item you create will be beneath it in your Tree hierarchy. To create a product, click on the product icon in the icon bar. A new product will appear in your Tree, with the name "New Product." Go ahead and rename this product appropriately by typing in the product name in the detailed view to the right. Fill in as much, or as little information as you like about your product. You will notice that the detail view contains several tabs of information, such as Participate, Notifications, Reporting, and Phases. You will want to explore these areas in the Truereq User Guide to get the most out of Truereq, but for now, let's move on to adding a requirement.

Creating your first requirement:
To add a requirement or several requirements to your first product, first select that product in the Tree, and then click on the requirement icon in the icon bar. A new requirement will appear in your Tree with the name "New Requirement,", beneath your product. Go ahead and rename this requirement by typing in the requirement name in the detailed view to the right. Again, fill in as much, or as little information as you like about the requirement.

Importing requirements: an alternative to creating them in Truereq:
If you already have a list of your product requirements, and wish to expedite the process of entering them into your Tree, Truereq offers an import function. You can import requirements into your Tree from a standard comma-separated-value (CSV) file. For details on importing requirements, please visit the Import/Export portion of the Truereq User Guide.

A brief visual overview of your Workspace:
The Truereq Workspace interface has four parts, shown below: the Requirements Tree, the item detail window, the comments window, and the menus and icon bar area.

Making Truereq work for you:
You have now installed and launched Truereq, and created your first product and requirement. We have barely scratched the surface of Truereq's power to make your product lifecycle management smoother and more successful. As you explore Truereq, you will discover that you can tailor it to fit your company's needs. Go ahead and explore it on your own, or use the comprehensive Truereq User Guide for details. If you have any questions along the way, please don't hesitate to email our support staff at , or give us a call at 1-866-Truereq ).
